Working in oils, I strives to capture romantic landscapes in an impressionistic style using predominately the palette knife. I strives to depict the vibrant, fresh and spontaneous beauty of nature with passionate color and textured impasto. Inspired by the magical beauty of the outdoors, I paints on location whenever possible, completing larger works in the studio. Capturing the moment on canvas is pure exhilaration… And with every new painting, I further develop and refine my singularly wonderful gesture.
Here I finally painted the last of the rigging on this larger Spinnaker painting, 24 x 18 on linen canvas. Varnished and packing it right now to ship to the Gallery.
I am really enjoying painting this new series of early and late day light. This one I worked with many glazes and a sable brush and it just glows. The picture doesn't do it any favors. I'll try to get a better picture once I put retouch varnish on it. Looks fab in a frame.
